E8 Cargo Ship in Dry-Dock
This Cargo Ship is the E 8. A civilian ship built in the mid 1930’s, that was taken over by the US NAVY and used to deliver supplies to areas of World War II. The US NAVY, ARMY Air Forces and ARMY took over civilian “vehicles” from various transportation sectors to supplement the war effort and overcome military shortages. These various aircraft, vehicles and vessels helped bolster our armed forces fast in the early days of the war.
It was a quick fix! Then the build up began.
This is the WWII cargo ship that convoyed to Java and unloaded crated P-40s that were promptly buried due to the pending return of the Imperial Japanese Army.
